The Last Showgirl 2024
Pam played the role of the forlone romantic so so well and I was honestly not expecting it. Heartbreaking and poignant commentary on times that be a-changin, the American working experience (tl/dr it's bad and often doesnt include superannuation or healthcare) and the way women band together to overcome adversity, particularly in industries that chew them up and toss them aside.

Just didnt hit for me. Pretty average script, overly corny physical comedy moments and some stiff performances through the first half of the film. Got a little better towards the back half but ultimately was let down by the potential that this had being an Issa Rae produced film with Keke Palmer, Katt Williams and SZA on screen.

Eggers just doesn't miss. The dialogue, cinematography, the accents, the mood, all *chefs kiss*. Dafoe farting centred on screen in black and white is peak cinema and I won't hear a word to the contrary. I also can't tell which Pattinson scene was better, him shovelling coal with that stache and a cig hanging out his mouth or him jerking it to a mermaid carving.
