I cannot begin to describe how deeply this film affected me. The immersion of the experience was fully met by the incomprehensible beauty of both the visuals and the soundtrack. It would be impossible to say just what exactly The Red Turtle is about with themes of loneliness, forgiveness, love, family, and acceptance running strong.

I find it really hard to work out why I like this film so much. I guess in the deeper parts you can tell that the film makers have produced something with real artistic integrity. The pureness doesn't lie in the action, the comedy or the beautiful animation, it's the delicate depiction of the everyday. Every mood and every silence are so hauntingly sublime and barely any films captivate the level of beauty that this one does.
