absolute top shelf australian b-picture
looks and sounds wonderful (composer brian may was often far too good for the crap he had to work on post mad max 2…) and manages to be a heap of cracking nonsense, sure it’s clumsy and blundered, but at barely 89 minutes, I don’t care!

a directors cut that somehow ends up shorter than the studio version, resulting in a lean 90 minute repackaging that mostly just creates a choose your own adventure alternative viewing experience
personally it’s better, mainly due to a handful of additions and alterations as well as feeling consistently like an attempt at neo-noir instead of imitation, but it’s not exactly a revelation
this cut also led to a new soundtrack, for better or lesser. thankfully the 70’s flavour…
