okay wow. lots to unpack here. I’m back & forth between a 3 1/2 & 4 star but I’m giving it the 4 star.
on one hand, opening the film with the boobs/club sceneage did not set the right tone for the film imo. if you’re trying to humanize sex workers to people who don’t see them that way, that’s not the way to do it. you’re just buying into the cheap male gaze shit that makes you question sean baker’s intentions.…
