I so love the choice to focus on child beauty pageants because those are all kinds of messed up and weird, and it forces the audience to do exactly what the family does- despite not getting it at all, we recognize Olive loves this thing in her own weird way, and as a family it’s their job to protect her from the world but also support her in her weird interests the best they can.
Everyone goes through their own mini arc kind of revolving around that and I’m a little obsessed with it. I love dysfunctional family movies (one guess as to why)

I love movies about creative passion, and this is one of the best out there. It’s inspiring no matter what field of artistry you’re into. God tier film
