Four Rooms 1995
My generation got into this because of Quentain. What Alison does in her room should be viewed more and more. Alexandre’s room is probably the most uncomfortable and tense…by design. Quentain’s is light and airy…considering. However the real magic comes from three aspects. Tim Roth’s performance, as Star and connective tissue. His performance in delish. Robert’s room is one of my favorite family dynamics ever recorded. This family oozes power. Their evening is a spectacle to behold. And lastly, perhaps Sub Pop’s most underrated band, Combustible Edison brings the place, the performances and the moment together in perfect harmony. This was that time and place.

The 'Burbs 1989
Of all the films my family enjoys, from the era I grew up in, this film provides the most lessons and quotable moments, applicable decades later. I certainly identify with Ray as an adult. I certainly did identify with Ricky as a kid. But this film is bigger and more useful to a life than a cul de sac.

Nope 2022
It’s the smallest moment, but what jarred me go in with anticipation, was a Mr. Bungle concert t-shirt on screen. The film does more than feature my favorite bands merch; it places the story in an environment I gravitate towards; featuring a family which reminds me of close neighbors; has quirky side show; and presents one of the more magical sci-fi concepts I have seen in all my years. It’s as if I was seen on a personal level from the big screen. A special film, made by and for people I would connect with.
