I came into this film a bit sceptical. Partly because I think I was too young to appreciate the first one, and secondly because it hasn’t been received with the same critical acclaim.
But let me tell you, this movie was a work of art in basically all categories. The animation was breathtaking, the soundtrack was spectacular, and the story felt like it had a character that any person could connect with.
This film only solidified my anti-war/anti-colonization mindset, and…
Favourite line from this movie “I’m tired of these stupid dolphins”
This is a weird movie (in a good way). And I think it really shows what Wes Anderson wants in a film. He wants interesting colour schemes, wild story arcs, successful yet solemn endings for the characters, and seeing characters evolve foundationally from start to finish.
This movie was a bit like a mental torture chamber. Every characters emotional intelligence is stunted. The whole time you are watching, you see each character struggle to make the right choice even though it is right in front of them.
The worst part is that you know that their mental torture will not cease, and even a “solution” to their problems will only change things on a surface level.
Good movie, but it made me uncomfortable (which seemed to be Wes Anderson’s intention). I probably won’t watch it again like some of his other movies, but I won’t speak poorly of it.
This was a really fun movie. Exciting graphics, non-stop action, and interesting dialogue.
The premise was pretty cool with pretty much the whole movie being shot on a bullet train. But, at the end of the day, it was just another action movie with lots of satirical elements.
I’ve been really enjoying Brad Pitt recently, and I’m liking how he is becoming an anti-villain in most of his recent roles.
Only lost stars because most action movies lack depth, and when they try, it’s to justify the exorbitant violence. This movie was the same.
