  It insists upon itself.

  But maybe that just comes with the subject matter.

  A series of visual metaphors of mother earth and what appear to a mermaid are supposed to make us believe that the film ponders upon life’s biggest questions and mysteries with intellectual sophistication, but alas, I fear that aesthetic depth falls short of providing the film with a compelling or enlightening perspective on age old themes. The film literally gestures towards meaning, but never fully grasps it.
