I don’t know what rating to give this film. Having read about the deeper meaning behind the film, it’s extremely impactful – horrifying, in fact.

Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. 2023
This film should be compulsory in primary and secondary schools. A nostalgic, real depiction of that strange time all girls go through in their tweens. The story is heartwarming and sweet and the characters utterly loveable. A warm hug of a film.
For Melissa:
There once was a young girl called Margaret,
Who moved away from her friends – what a hardship.
But with her family’s love
And the arrival of her menstrual blood,
She made it through and was no longer heartsick.Translated from by -
Heretic 2024
An original idea, plenty of unexpected twists and turns – and a couple of predictable ones (but that’s not necessarily a bad thing). Brilliantly acted from all three stars. Not really a horror – I think the film was mismarketed but that was probably necessary to get bums on seats. It was certainly tense in some moments, squishy in others and even wry at times; I certainly chuckled.
I don’t think the film sets out to make a definitive point…
