  i enjoyed the story for what it was, not realllly my cup of tea, i tend to lean away from the massive sci-fi universe, star warsy kind of plot, but this movie was fairly generous to the uninitiated; it was fairly easy to understand what was going on

  good watch, i recommend you give this one a go (imo you don't *have* to read the books beforehand, i didn't)

  i think it was a bit too on the nose, but i applaud the film for its unique plot progression and cinematography. I can't think of many (if any) films that are told in the way this one is.
  It also seems like the film comes from a place of personal experience which is valuable and it makes it more relatable for viewers... even if this movie wasn't a tremendous hit for me.
