A lot of reviews are comparing this to a 90 minute mcr music video but tbh that's pretty unfair to mcr. Anyway it is certainly an acquired taste and unfortunately I may have acquired it.

It's quintessential Ghibli. The story is not a five star plot, but it has all those elements you have to love about a Ghibli film. The cel anime style. The Hisaishi score. The whimsical escape into another world. The grief and the family. The landscapes and the way the trees and grass move in the wind. How could I not love it?
