  I’ll be sad when Miyazaki stops making movies. For whatever reason. They all are gorgeous and complex in their own way and this one is no exception.

  Just a gorgeous film. It took a little while to get on its wavelength, but once I got there, it was so effective. The non-linear storytelling was unexpected but really makes sense in the context of the whole story. Quite a tragic story of someone who just wants to be “normal”. That never works.

  “Hang onto your boobs girl, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.”

  Dead Bernie from Weekend at Bernie’s put the almost-dead brain of Brian O’Conner from The Fast and The Furious into a mechanical dinosaur who then goes on a killing spree before trying to reunite with Bond girl Christmas Jones. Quite a movie.

  The ease in which Paul Walker convinces Denise Richards that his brain is in fact inside the T-Rex is astonishing. This movie knows exactly what it is…

  Suspiria 1977

  Well, that was very effective. Can’t say I’ve ever seen quite a red-drenched movie like this one. And the soundtrack just ratchets up the sense of extreme discomfort to levels that I’m not sure I’ve ever really experienced before. From the very get go, the screeching sounds just make you grit your teeth in a way that doesn’t allow you to relax for the entirety of the film.

  Part of me wants to go watch the remake now and part of me really doesn’t. But I’m sure I will soon.
