Probably the greatest 90 minutes of pure dialogue put to screen. What struck me here, is that this film serves as a (not so subtle?) reminder to always challenge your biases/assumptions. And the unfortunate reality that people make judgements based on bigotry or personal hatred (Lee J. Cobbs character). On a side note: I was suprised that the racists changed their mind quicker than the dude who had a bad relationship with their son.
Besides that, the film does highlight…
I feel so late to the party to say that it's becoming incredibly hard to deny the impact of this movie. Spahn ranch seems to have spawned a slew of superstars. I'm aware this wasn't their first movies, but it was quite the ensemble of young talent.
The only dialogue that really stuck with me was between Leonardo Dicaprio and Julia Butters. I can't place my finger on why that's the case...
