  Love & Pop 1998

  I enjoyed Love & Pop on my first watch but I fell in love with it this time around. Absolutely devastating plot with some of the most unique camerawork seen in cinema. Although it happens scarcely, I love watching experts of one medium switch to a completely different one (i.e. film directing --> video games). It pushes the boundaries and rules of what can be done within a medium and Hideaki Anno does this masterfully.

  (Side Note: It was nice experiencing this in a full theater rather than in 240p on YouTube. Hopefully we can get a Ritual (and Gunbuster) theater run next)!

  Fargo 1996

  Effortlessly manages to balance the tension of a high-risk, medium-reward heist and the quiet comfort of midwestern life. Might be one of the most American films ever in terms of thematic focus.

  (Minnesota accents are up their with Toronto in terms of how hilarious they are).

  I've turned to the original manga countless times for inspiration but finally seeing this animated led me to go home, call my childhood friend and immediately pull out my childhood journals, comics & loose leaf drawings. Why'd I ever stop drawing?

  Must watch for any creative. It'll change your life.
