Some good stuff in this, it’s well directed visually and Naomi Scott is clearly a great actor but the story loses any weight it’s attempting to build by playing way too much with what’s real and what’s not. In a better written script/story that could definitely work but in this one it just left me irritated and uninterested by the halfway point. Just felt like there wasn’t any consequence to anything that was playing out in the film.
Stunningly beautiful film that still feels fresh on every viewing. Maybe not for everyone but I adore this one, think you could say that about most of his stuff really.
Alex Garlands films aren’t always the whole package but damn do they have some of the best visuals you can get. This, Dredd, Men, Civil War, Ex Machina are all absolutely gorgeous.
Bit disappointing this one. Very much style over substance here.
Eggers definitely knows how to compose a visually arresting shot, the films stunning to watch but it’s like he’s so absorbed with that facet of film making that he’s dropped the ball elsewhere.
Movie starts great, the journey to and time within Orlocks castle were captivating as was the last 30mins but I was left bored with the middle hour or so. Felt like the film was spinning its wheels…
