  You gotta go into this blind. This movie has such a sudden tone shift and it's so beautifully jarring and uncomfortable and damn it lowkey made me emotional.

  Looks kinda bleak.

  Make Happy ended with him playing piano in a dark room but eventually exiting into daylight for a new house with his girlfriend, leaving comedy behind for a strange dreamlike, but still possible chance at happiness.

  The trailer picks up where that scene left off but instead the light turns off, the door closes, and we see he's grown a beard. He's been there for a while. He never left. He's still inside.

  Bo Burnham: Inside 2021

  I really enjoyed a special like Make Happy because despite still being 1 hour live performances, they go above and beyond the "comedy special" mold, but Inside is practically it's own feature film. It's Bo Burnham's Pink Floyd's The Wall. There are so many layers of analysis to it. So many interpretations of just the ending alone. It's funny, it's sad, it's entertaining, it's scary, it's existential. It's incredible for one guy to be able to make all this from his house.
