  A brilliant and tense run of the “you’ve got the wrong man” trope. Brutal in ways I had not expected from Hitchcock. But what really sinks the dagger in for me was the margarita moment with the detective’s wife. What would have been a lighthearted gag in anyone else’s hands, here becomes a moment of pathos that I can’t shake a full day later.
