In Bruges' ability to transition it's silly introduction and overall nature to an ultra-deep and moody character story blows my mind every time I experience it. I'm laughing, gripped, and finally thoughtful as I'm undoubtedly left with the film occupying brain space for the next week.

Mother's narrative is edge-of-your-seat stuff, but I just wish this film had a little something extra going for it, visually or conceptually. The focus subject matter of intellectual disabilities doesn't feel totally well-rounded to me; this film is more focused on parental relationships, specifically the titular one, in addition to delivering its plot.

It’s hard not to like the fun concept of Renfield, where we get to explore toxic relationships through the comedic lens of the one between Dracula and his familiar.
