The Church 1989
Gothic horror with extravagant Italian sensibilities. There is a lot to indulge in with this one. Perhaps it’s because I watched the English dub version, but there was something disaffected about the dialogue. Nonetheless, Soavi and Argento struck some crazy demon magic here.
I walked away thinking of the church representing The Tower in tarot. The upheaval required for a clean slate, and the unrelenting productive force of karma.
