profoundly moving. like yes I’m really giving this movie 4.5 stars. I don’t care. it was staggeringly beautiful and profoundly moving. I can only dream of making art like this.

Un film qui n'aurait jamais pu être réalisé dans l'anglosphère.

The most interesting aspect of this movie is how the story is told from such a neutral perspective. How neutral the camera is. Breillat really doesn't tell you how to feel about Anne and Théo.

I really didn’t like Florence Pugh (unpopular opinion apparently?) in the first half of the film. She doesn’t belong in period pieces I’m sorry but her voice is tragically 2020s coded. I constantly felt pulled out of the story. But she won me over in the art gallery “marriage is an economic proposition” scene with Timothée Chalamet.

Saorise Ronan was AMAZINGGGG as Jo perfect casting
