  I have mixed feelings about Pig. Most of the reviews I skimmed herald Nicolas Cage's performance, and they're right to do so -- it was a pleasure watching him reel it back, while the director seemed to toy with our expectations of him. The movie moves at a slower pace, but it also feels electric. I must admit that I thought the writing was rather brilliant. I found it understated and surprising.   Requiem for a Dream 2000

  The title says it all: You know from the first moment that things aren't going to turn out well; but you can't help but stare, horrified, once things get moving. Requiem is filled to the brim with technical creativity, and every bit of style supports the substance. Still, with so much going on, it's easy to overlook the stunning performances led by Ellen Burstyn (in her Oscar nominated role). I know Requiem is on a lot of "Great Films I'll Never Watch Again" lists, but you owe it to yourself to see it at least the once.
