Lily Rose-Depp is pretty outstanding here.

Dafoe is great just playing himself.
Skarsgard fills the screen and the viewer with dread every time he appears. The tension in those scenes is propulsive for the rest of the movie.

Once you overcome the sterilization of romance in blockbusters (gotta give us at least a kiss, Universal, come on), it’s such an upgrade on the original.
Leads are so good. DEJ is the best. Glen is the best. So much fun. Feels like we are back at the movies in America.
