    nightmare alice in wonderland.

guillermo del toro creates some of the most imaginative looking characters you’ll ever see in a film. the pale man leaves a lasting impression on you, despite his limited screen time.

pans labyrinth has an interesting dichotomy in its narrative. on one hand you have a political drama about spanish dictatorship, on the other is a fantasy quest for a girl to find her lost father. the film chops back and forth between the two seperate…

Damn this is the epitome of a gut wrenching film.

mads mikkelsen’s entire filmography is banger after banger. his performance is heartbreaking.

this is a grounded and believable plot - i believe it was based loosely on true events. you really feel for lucas, such a well mapped out character. at the start you see a pretty well rounded man, by the final act you see a man who’s had his life ripped apart.

    VERY underrated film.

Anything with ben mendelsohn is automatically a +1 star (he’s also fantastic in this).

All-star casting - ray liotta & james gandolfini, couldn’t ask for better mobsters. pitt’s character is something crossed between chopper read, anton chigur (from no country), and aldo raine (from inglorious bastards) - and pitt pulls it together wonderfully.

Directed by andrew dominik, who also directed chopper (2000) & the assassination of jesse james (2007), this very much carries over the vibe of those films.

a greasy, suspenseful, crime film you will enjoy.

    “what did he look like?”

    “well kind of…plain”

    “in what way?”

    “just… ordinary.”

this really is one of those films that when the credits roll, you’re just sat there like… “fuck”.

incredible, 100/10, will rewatch this on a stormy night for the rest of my life.

yeah look its good but not great.

some tense moments but the story just came to nothing.

    tennis bits are cool.

jumps back and forth in time were a bit forced, a lot of it i felt was done just to keep the story from getting stale.. some of it was impactful but a lot of it was just to reconfirm that yes, they’re both still into zendaya, which was established in the first 5 minutes of the film.

first and final ten minutes were funny but the middle lacked real substance.
