    The Protector! Very humorous title, given how bad Jackie Chan is at protecting people in this. Every character he shares a scene with seems to end up kidnapped, maimed or shot while he remains completely unscathed. His middling incompetence as a NYPD beat-cop somehow leads to him and his partner being promoted to foreign field agents in Hong Kong, because that’s just how things rolled in the 80s, and things only get more gonzo from there.

    Spielberg had proven himself before this, but Raiders truly identifies him as intricate an artisan as a fine clockmaker.     Kinda hated this in its first half hour, but I eventually found it's groove and let it work it's blood demon art on me. By the end I was mesmerised.

    The soundtrack and the visuals go so frigging hard in some scenes, it's the kind of sensory overload that can form an addiction.
