The middle bit of the movie is a lot of fun but ultimately I wished it had a bit more weirdness around the edges, it plays out a little conventionally?
I got no sense of who Ani was, why she’d marry this guy, what her life is like. It felt like the movie Sean baker wanted to make started after they got married but it never held together for me because she’s never fully sketched out before that point.
