frederick wiseman and his invisible camera! really an intense commitment to showing life as it is , the reason why being summed up during the moby dick scene. each little vignette adds so much and exists as it is but that scene really ties a thread through everything. something so pure and filmmaker-y about this. every scene really feels like there isn’t even a camera in the room. the subjects make their own meanings, and the editing amplifies those meanings.
