feel like I just went to therapy my emotions were held so tightly, perfectly paced, the performances had so much weight and depth, I'll be coming back to this film a lot (also wooow the soundtrack)
additional note: the way it plays with its own subtext could have been too much but it just works so naturally (an achievement!!)

Refreshing take on the original material! I'm going to be chewing on some of these scenes, well drawn characters and set pieces for sometime! (The reverse shot on Godzilla in Ginza post explosion is breathtaking.)
I do wish the filmmakers trusted in their ability to convey theme to the audience a bit more - so many delicious one liners but some scenes would get across an idea in a subtle but clear way, only to undercut that by spelling it…
