Wicked 2024
Rarely ever will you see me take kindly to a film adaptation of a musical, let alone one that defined my youth when I actually remotely cared about musical theatre. Nosferatu 2024
Leave it to Eggers to elevate quintessential horror as only he knows how. My favorite aspect of this film is the nods to its source material. Eggers leaves space for all of the gorgeous callbacks to the original 1922 film while bringing it to the dark, gory level that would sate a 2024 audience. The cast is all-around stellar. Initially, I had an issue with Lily-Rose Depp's vacuous characterization; however, it turned out to be the perfect choice. Major kudos to Bill Skårsgard for what is nothing short of genius and a hats-off to Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Willem Dafoe for continuing to deliver powerhouse performances.
