    Emily

    ★★½

This movies existence is so confusing. The usual story is Anne Bronte was in love with Weightman but there's tons of myth surrounding the Brontes and in reality there's little evidence of that. There is evidence however that Charlotte was at least charmed by him so she would make the most sense as the focus of this film. So the filmmakers I guess split the difference and made it about Emily who has the least evidence of the three?

Jonestown: The Life and Death of Peoples Temple

    ★★½

Just finished a book about Jonestown. This dude would have been a renowned Civil Rights leader had he continued on the path he was on early, that's insane to me and also does a good job explaining why so many black people followed him. He was a white man going out of his way to help him who was being cosigned by black leaders and was winning MLK Awards and shit, crazy.

The doc is decent some good footage but it's a really extensive story that 90 minutes isn't enough to cover.

This is about the theory that it was caused by polio vaccines in the late 50s, a theory that was debunked almost immediately! It's been proven that HIV-1 was circulating long before the vaccines begun in 1958 (1908 in Cameroon is where it's thought to have begun, even if that proves to be untrue it…

Excellent show. Held off since it came out because i wanted to read the book, realized it'd probably take me years to get around to it as there's so many more i want to read first and just watched it. I'm (half) glad i watched it first because i feel like the written versions of Olive and Henry could never live up to the ones brought to life by McDormand and Jenkins. That's something i never say and had i…
