  This is one of the best "cool guy has chill day" movies. There's barely a plot to speak of and our heroes are just kinda bopping around the whole time. Movies like that don't always work! But every element here works in perfect harmony and each lead actor is throwing a perfect game. This is Clooney's best comedic performance. They only cast the best fat guys with funny accents.   Very cute & sincere! Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts are both operating at full power in this. It's definitely kinda cheesy and maybe I felt the length towards the end but this was an enjoyable watch! I definitely detected a lot of Richard Curtis' signature style in this too. Good soundtrack.

  Oof that voiceover was just brutal, right? Voiceover into flashback into news broadcast. That opening act was an exposition lasagna. I was mostly on board but as things progressed, this just got messier and messier. Too many plots fighting for relevancy and then this ultimately goes nowhere. Never a good sign when I’m thinking “how is this not over yet???” during the pointless epilogue. Generic sci-fi idea soup or should I say, sauce.
