First Miyazaki / Studio ghibli film to watch in a cinema. Definitely his deepest, most profound work coming from his whole career of 13 films that speaks volumes of himself, the studio and his legacy.
Watched twice already! Such a great film showing social paranoia, ecstasy groups and subverting the genre
It's like Wes Anderson knew this would be the perfect story for animation. I love all the anesthetics and forgot that it was stop motion at one point. The mixture with the Japanese language and whispers made it so real. I love how he doesn't make a big fuss over big scenes and keeps the tone equal through the movie
Hilarious and smart with how it depicts a cop comedy turned chicken joint business. I love how the tables turn and goes around and each character in the squad had something to contribute to the story and comedy. Watched this over Zoom and Netflix party with friends so it was fun
My favorite scene was when they were analyzing the chicken joint franchises and talking about them as if they’re in a police briefing - which was funny and ironic because they had already retired and it’s as if the drug dealers just went to them.
