  Venom: The Last Dance 2024

  The Venom comics especially the arcs from its 90s heyday, aren’t exactly paragons of storytelling. Last Dance captures the mayhem, over the top action and sloppy storytelling. It’s not the best cinema but it sure brought me back to the days of Separation Anxiety, Lethal Protector, The Vault among others.

  It’s actually three stories, each spotlighting the cases assigned to one of the three cyber criminals turned cyber police. The delightfully dated animation and soundtrack resonate with retro-future nostalgia. Still, the stories - a rogue building A.I., a weaponized cyborg and a bio-engineered vampire are as contemporary and relevant as ever, like a true cyberpunk classic should be.

  Visually impressive overstuffed mismash of Cowboy Bebop, Elysium and other sci-fi tropes is entertaining but could use a little focus. 

  
  Another note is the acting of the non-Korean actors. It feels like they just gathered a bunch of random tourists and asked them to be a part of the movie.

Following
