    And God Said to Cain

After watching all the westerns in Arrows Vengeance Trails box set, without a doubt this is the gem of the four films.  The atmosphere created is really unlike any other western I’ve seen from the period and as intended, the director Antonio Margheriti shoots in a gothic horror style which is just so unique. Klaus Kinski is fantastic in the film as the stoic Gary Hamilton - he really has one of the best faces in all of cinema -…

The fact they put those little rocket packs on actual penguins is astounding. Also I appreciate this film so much more now than when I saw it as a kid back in the 90s. It’s everything you want from a Batman movie and a Tim Burton movie, and exceeds Batman 89 in both those regards.

Still has me on the edge of my seat for the final 30 minutes despite knowing the outcome. Just a great film with great performances and probably my favorite of Chris Hemsworth’s. Howard directs the hell out of this thing.

Pretty incredible true story but even at 90 minutes this felt too long. Yes, There are definitely some intense moments but the emotional core was just not there for me and anytime they tried the momentum of the film slowed to a crawl - I haven’t seen the documentary it’s based on but I imagine that may be more interesting ultimately since you’ve got the real footage and interviews with the crew.  The underwater photography was pretty great and did elevate this a bit.

Phenomenal and brilliantly shot from a 1st person perspective which immerses you entirely into the story. Every moment is felt. Just an outstanding film.

Not sure it totally justifies its existence in terms of furthering the story and providing more context to the Furiosa character but damn is this movie a good time. Set pieces and action are all fantastic. Chris Hemsworth’s over the top portrayal of Dementus was a breath of fresh air after being stuck in the marvel whirlpool. Anya Taylor-Joy was equally good as the stoic Furiosa. Overall very much enjoyed this one.
