. The intricacy and poetry of Shakespeares’s language combined with the emotional intensity of Leo’s acting performance yields my favorite adaptation of this story to date. The small changes made to the script/storyline honestly strengthen the source material in my opinion; Juliet waking up as Romeo dies adds another heartbreaking layer of easily-missed catastrophe—the epitome of tragedy.

The visuals are so stunning and romantic even though they’re a huge change from the original setting

Had me hooked the whole time, but not really sure what the big message or takeaway was.  Ending wasn’t surprising but still hard to watch.

Really well-done trial story where I found myself constantly changing opinions on whether I believed the main character to be innocent or guilty in her husbands murder. Thought it was sick to see how the defense and prosecution team also presented the same facts under vastly different circumstances to suit their purposes. The actor who played the son was super talented! Even without speaking, his depth of emotion was palpable in every scene.

The epitome of a gothic horror movie with eerie yet oddly beautiful visuals. Ellen’s appearance adds to the ambience of the movie; she has an ethereal, ghostly beauty. Her movements were also something I found myself unable to take my eyes away from, a impeccably choreographed possession.

My biggest qualm with this movie is I can’t, as of now, find any meaning for it. What was the point of it all? What’s the message? As of now, it feels like a whole lot of unearned misery and death without any payoff or morale.
