The Transformers: The Movie 1986
An accidentally excellent film. Thanks to its outsourced animation and the cynical production team looking to introduce a new line of toys, we end up with a shockingly grim phantasmagoria of psychedelic imagery and massacred robots at the whims of an eldritch god that seeks only to consume. I can understand why people write this one off but if you peel below the surface, there's a gonzo kinda magic in this one

The Beanie Bubble 2023
An interesting little deep dive on a big rich weirdo and how easy it is to get stuck in the orbits of people like that. Some really charming performances from the core lead characters. Unfortunately a lot of the more interesting bits of the Beanie Story get lost in the shuffle of jumping timeliness and interpersonal drama. Still my hat is off to their ambition in how they chose to present this story.

I can't help but find it's weird fixation on the morality of theft a tiny bit odd given its subject material but it's an undeniably charming movie with some fantastic animation and performances across the board. Feels like it's been a long time since Pixar had good ideas like this.
