    A story:

I’m a glutton when I go to the cinemas which is why whenever I go to Harkins theaters I bring two refillable cups and will always get one Fanta Orange and one Coke Zero Sugar (or Coke Zero, if you’re a normal person). Sometimes I’ll swap out one of these for a Lipton Raspberry Ice Tea (or Iced Tea, if you’re a normal person). Anyway, that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that with two large cups of…

This review is brought to you by the prefix “un-”.

As in, this is a movie that is unintentionally hilarious. It is unironically cynical. It is unrelenting in its botched execution.

To make matters worse, it has no discernible connection to franchises we already like or established characters that matter.

    It is unnecessary.

    But.

    But…

There’s something singular about this project. It is the culmination of obvious studio meddling, an inept screenplay and a startling lack of creative vision. The…

What can I say - ANOTHER MARVEL SMASH HIT!

Get it? Smash Hit? Because this has a Hulk? And the Hulks like to smash things? Smash Hit?

    Smash? Hit?

    Smash?

    Anyway.

Seriously, though. Brave New World is lean, efficient, effective, and brutal in some places and has the right amount of emotional anchoring to endear the audience to characters both old and new.

Yes, it positions the MCU nicely as it climaxes towards the end of phase 5. But it…

    Heart Eyes

Is it something in the water? Are there literal creative juices flowing out there in Hollywood? Heart Eyes is the second fantastic love-themed horror movie to be released in as many weeks. (Companion just having been released the weekend before).

This is something that shouldn’t work. A pulpy slasher that doubles as a romantic comedy. But this film works on all fronts: it’s a gory horror piece, and it’s genuinely funny. And, yeah, it’s sincerely romantic.

    This is…

    OK, personal story time:

Like I'm sure is the case with many in the Letterboxd community, I was relentlessly bullied in grade/middle/high school. I came of age during the 1990s. I'm a black dude who likes academics and wears glasses... So, of course, the weapon-of-choice by my tormentors was very often Steve Urkel. I grew up in New Mexico and like many other places in the country it was considered uncool for black and Latino students to be smart or…

I've watched homosexual pornography with more cinematic and Christian merit than this dreck, and i'm not even joking.

Speaking of pornography, what's with Cameron's near-masturbatory obsession with Hot Chocolate?

Whoever is responsible for conceptualizing Deandre is a white supremacist.
