I'm not a huge fan of Hellboy and think this is about on par with the Del Toro movies, but a lot better than the 2019 one. This sums up a lot of recent horror movies in that the first hour is basic and uninteresting, while the last 30 minutes had something that could have been interesting if the rest of the movie had actually decided to lean into that. Every performance is amazing and I'm sad that Boyd Hollbrook doesn't get as much recognition for playing Johnny Cash. After finally getting to watch this I can confidently say that this may be the biggest Oscar snub in history.
