  rewatched this for the first time in like, 8ish years? it used to be a favourite of mine. it's just incredibly fun even if it's dated. i mean, i like that it's a bit of a time capsule. anyway, i think it's amazing that scott is such a soggy pathetic loser that he makes the other pathetic loser characters look functional by contrast. most importantly, the soundtrack fucks heavy.

  i think a lot of ppl are a bit bored by it bc in the 2010s, many of us know more than this documentary tells us, but at that time, it was probably super interesting for western audiences (given that this is french). That's why I like this, though; it shows us Otakuism from the immediate come down from the economic bubble.

  i'm not even joking in this. This movie was not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Like, it's a movie about what white people think black people are like. The method this is explored thru? not the best, but the message gets across. Blackface is just pretty jarring so, it's hard for people to look past it. Also, he looks like a white person in blackface which is the most unconvincing part of this movie. It's very 80s, sit-comish and corny, but it kind of works for the time, save for the blackface ofc.
