  I like this way more than the first one but I still hate the way huge battle scenes are shot and edited so incoherently. It's all closeups and shakey-cam. I know there are ways to convey the chaos of war that are still visible. Everything with Gollum is so annoying and stupid. I also wish there was more for the women to do. It's not that what they do…

  I had this whole long review I was writing as I watched to get a good sense of what I thought. Then Nina Menkes quoted Roger Ebert and proceeded to call a rape scene of an enslaved man "cringe-worthy" because old Rog thought the movie was trash.

  She was already giving bad vibes and this was the final nail in the coffin. It was bad enough hearing her unironically calling another someone "the original gangster." It was bad enough seeing…
