Moonlight 2016
I've been wanting to watch this film for so long because I've heard so many good things about it. I can safely say this film lived up to my expectations. Moonlight utilizes a unique compartmentalized structure that helps the viewer process Chiron’s experiences. While watching the film, I pulled from preconceived notions about development to help shape my expectations of Chiron as he grew up before my eyes. I enjoyed the fact that the film didn't spell everything out for the audience. We had the pieces there, but we had to put the narrative together. This is definitely one of my new favorite films.

La La Land 2016
Somehow I had never seen La La Land until now. I was pleasantly surprised that it lived up to the expectations. The plot was incredibly intriguing. I felt drawn in and never bored.
