I will fall asleep, even if it’s good.
Favorites are the latest five-star experiences.
I have mixed emotions about this one. Stephen Thrower describes Satan War as a sort of anti-cinema film in which we get a haunted house story where absolutely nothing happens. Knowing that when popping this bad boy in, helped a lot with my enjoyment. I think the droning synth score carries the whole thing because at some point you just settle in to the haunted atmosphere and vintage film imperfections. By the end you’re not sure if you’ve been entertained or possessed.
Honestly maybe four stars? Let’s wait and see. The music was excellent, the colorful freakout dances in front of the fireplace were stunning, the kaleidoscopic scenes of Marilyn Jess were top tier. Pulse Video’s restoration of this and Il etait une fois Marilyn Jess are pretty mind boggling - def worth the money!
You need to have a double doctorate in Cozzinomics to understand this flick but there are enough moments of “wtf is going on?” to keep you riveted (or confused) for a majority of the time.
Cozzi is a living legend!
