National Theatre Live: The Other Place 2025
god this was good. grief makes you weird, and turns you inside out - and this show captured that so very well. the strength of the main three characters made up for the sometimes lazy writing of the supporting cast.
worth a watch just for THAT scene tbh. my jaw was on the floor the entire third act.

okay so the final episode finished and i’ve had time to gather my thoughts, so here’s my perspective on it!!
stuff i loved:
- the inclusion of the backstories!! more specifically; petit gavais, fantine’s boyfriend, marius’ father. they really deepened the characters and you really fell in love with them more.
- the handholding!!!! FINALLY an adaptation where my boys enjolras and grantaire die holding hands. it’s what victor hugo would have wanted.
