Originally a 5 star movie for me. But on this rewatch, I couldn’t help but feel very discomforted by the problematic romance. That rapey kiss scene really colors Deckard and Rachel’s relationship with a coercive and misogynistic tone for the rest of the film. Also, to say the film’s depiction of Asian people is “dated” and stereotyped would be an understatement.
Despite this, I think the philosophy, visual world building, pacing, score, and set/costume design of Blade Runner are sublime.…
