Good watch. Visually really pretty. Loved all the constant blues and reds flooding nearly every shot. I don't know the first thing about giallo horror but if I had to assume this was a pretty good introduction to it. There's one shot where someone's whispering Sara's name in the library and we see them duck between book spines from their perspective. One of many really good shots, actually. The studio work done in Cinecittà was spectacular, too.

    But it isn't…

Wow. I mean beautifully shot and composed and acted out. Like actually an emotional rollercoaster if I ever saw one. Life can be so cruel yet so uplifting yet all the while we have to make the most of it and sometimes you reach a breaking point but that just means you have to pick the pieces up knowing better. Man.

Brought me to tears a few times if that's any consolation.

Really funky surrealist wannabe-murder comedy(???) noir(?????)

Our post-film discussion included a guy from Mexico dropping straight knowledge bombs about every little thing that could've contextualized this film and it was awesome.

Definitely narrative-driven which felt like it was meant to feel not Bruñuel-esque. I haven't seen anything else by him but this little piece of paper talked about how he had to reinvent himself for the Mexican film industry; I think it's pretty evident.
