"Women are very delicate, but they can also get hysterical."

Poor Gerard. His wife left him for another man. He lives in a flat with their young son, a toddler. Into his life enters Valerie. She bonds with the toddler, but Gerard has problems. Basically, he's unhappy because men can't screw around nowadays. It's supposed to be a patriarchal society, after all. Valerie tolerates him the best she can. However, he gets into bad moods and mocks her and roughs…

Women! They moan and will have an affair when you're married and then moan when, after you've been dumped, you've slept with other women! Poor Steve Carell discovers this. He gets picked up in a bar by Ryan Gosling. I was expecting some sort of bisexual experimentation the way Gosling pounced on him, but he just wants to be an educator on how to get women to participate in casual sex.

Anyway, the film is terrible. Don't waste your time.

What if Fight Club was remade, but instead of fighting they did talking and chanting? That's what this movie is and it's terrible. Jesse Eisenberg has all the personality of a plank of wood in this. He drives around and he works out at the gym. At one point he punches a mirror. There's a bit of friction with some of the guys at the gym. I don't know why, maybe something to do with repressed gay feelings, who knows!

Anyway, a better title for this film would be Shite Club. Did not finish.

This was a failure at the box office. Not surprising at all. It's packed with people. Just. Pausing. Frequently. ...... Followed by long pauses ......... Between sentences. Dirk Bogarde gives a twitchy, sweaty performance. It's about middle-aged boredom. Nothing much happens. The highlight was Bogarde making scrambled eggs for someone. He…
