    The Penguin Lessons

    ★★½

I just found that l, despite the incredible amazing charm of the titular penguin it didn't quite click with me. I found the tone very disjointed and the persistent melancholy tonne just a bit overbearing.

But dear goodness I miss hanging out with penguins.

This Is the Tom Green Documentary

    ★★★½

I thought this was pretty interesting, especially considering I knee absolutely nothing about Tom Green besides the reputation of Freddie got Fingered.

I think it showed someone with a keen eye for odd comedy and who was ahewd of his time. I also liked everyone just coming down to visit him on his farm.
It felt quite soft and cosy (especially given how genre pushing he is elsewhere) but very professionally done.

So, it's been about 8 years since I last saw Trainspotting, and I didn't revise before coming to see this. But I can say that I think it's a great sequel. The editing and direction is really fresh and exciting, the characters are still great, the soundtrack is stonking, it's nostalgic without being mawkish and it is much funnier than I remember the first one being.

Maybe a bit light on plot, but a really great, entertaining, and moving character piece.

  • I Believe in Santa

    I Believe in Santa

I spent most of this film assuming that the guy believed in Santa because he knew Santa. Because he was an Elf. This is because he definitely doesn't act like a real human being.

But no this film is actually about two absolute psychopaths falling in love and sharing surprisingly little chemistry.

There is some hideously clunky messaging about believing in Santa equating to religion and being Muslim.

All in all it is very bad.

However I appreciated that the leads were relatively older
