look, I’m not exactly immune to this movie but half of the reason i attribute to the fact that I just love Harris Dickinson. The Ibsenian references—if not a bit on the nose— tickled me. I mean their daughter *Nora* asking to show off her *tarantella* 💃🏻 that’s one among a few literarily charged character names, others being Mary and Ophelia….

Nice sound design and bumping soundtrack sure but I think I can only enjoy so many A24 movies a year before the branding gets tired.

An opening sequence for the books, wow!

Construction time lapse made me think of Man with the Movie Camera :)

I was waiting for a shot of a guy pressing his face against a facade in a vaguely sexual way and I can’t believe it happened lol. I think one could consider this movie to be one that "insists upon itself," a la Peter Griffin. I'm not usually one to fault a movie or director for that though.

Does it justify its run time? Eh, maybe tired question and not so relevant anymore, but yeah my butt got sore.

Before I go on what turned out to be an unexpectedly involved rant, I’d first declare that this movie did manage to make me cry—if somewhat against my will. There are many things I liked about it. Perfect Days…

I’m sending you kisses through the clouds, so when it rains my kisses will touch your lips

I knew that it wasn't going to take much persuading for me to adore this movie. It checks all the boxes for my kind of flick, down to a precise sequence, too. City, country, sea. Urban malaise, rural wander, oceanic cleanse. In a non-prescriptive/restrictive elucidation—Mumbai for director Kapadia seems to be what Taipei is for Edward Yang, Hong Kong for WKW, Tokyo for…
