  American heart would greatly benefit from not having that deadbeat criminal friend storyline. Should have just focused on the father son relationship, there was enough conflict.

  Young Mickey Rooney acted his little ass off. A movie staring kids is usually painful but this one has some dark moments and good laughs. 

  Props to the uncredited Rowland Brown. I swear I could feel the tone shift once they fired him as director from the film.

  Very silly and it knows it. 

  Violent Night really leans into the Christmas theme and it works. 

  Cam Gigante was in my graduating class. He was voted best dressed. He plays an idiotic vapid man very well. 

  David Harbour is really turning into the new Harrison Ford, or maybe Bruce Willis. The lovable masculine but not too masculine action hero with a sense of humor. I hope he runs with it.
