  Yep. Every bit as beautiful as everyone said. Then came out of the theater to a wildly vibrant sunset. God is good.

  Of the six people in the theater, three were little kids commenting on the movie with such joy and wonder, laughing at the funny parts and saying the names of the animals as they appeared. Then when they saw the sunset outside after the movie they commented on it with the same joy and wonder as they did with the beautiful images they’d just seen on the screen, but this time in real life! I thought that was pretty cool. Kids are pretty cool.

  Incredible how all of this just works. It’s all played out so straight and serious and realistic. It never pokes fun at itself or winks at the audience. It also respects the intelligence of the audience, trusting that even if you don’t catch every detail you’ll still be able to follow along and understand the stakes. Incredible characters, incredible performances, visual effects that don’t look like visual effects, perfectly paced, and those action scenes. Oh boy. Every ambush, every laser,…

  These movies are actually so great. Hadn’t seen this one in 13 or 14 years. Franco is not a good actor. Caesar is awesome.

  Goofy! Ruffalo is having an absolute feast. Love what Pattinson is doing. Feels like some characters and side plots are left behind as the movie goes on until it remembers them and wraps them up in the epilogue but like… who cares? Just feels like there were a lot more threads Bong wanted to expand on but just barely touched. Really love everything Ruffalo does and Toni Collette is great too.

  I don’t really like to throw around the word “masterpiece” but this right here… this is a masterpiece.

  So deliberately created and insane and creative and hilarious and heartfelt and gorgeous… and it all works. I mean, this movie should not work but it 100% does. 

  If you haven’t seen it, I’d advise you to go in as blind as possible. I sure am glad that I did.
