An Elephant Sitting Still 2018
Beautiful beautiful film. Great score--haunting, sparse. Was on my mind for a long time, but I had put off watching because I thought it would be difficult to get through. But no, I was immersed for the entire 4 hours. It was painful and triggering, but the hurt was almost seductive. I could not stay away. The quiet anger and loneliness sat with me like a bruise, aching every time I thought about it. I'm very sad we will never see another film from Hu Bo.
